Joseph D. Songy founded the law firm of Joseph D. Songy, P.L.L.C. in 2010. Joseph obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and attended law school at the University of Mississippi School of Law. His law firm provides a wide range of legal services to clients throughout Mississippi and abroad. His practice mostly involves family law, criminal defense, personal injury, and estates. He is a member of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association and the Mississippi Young Lawyers Association. Beginning in July 2012, Joseph will be slowing down his practice to serve as Policy Advisor and Counsel to Governor Phil Bryant. This appointment will end in December of 2014, and Joseph will resume his private practice full time.
Rhea Hudson Sheldon serves Of Counsel to our law firm. Rhea is currently a partner at the law firm of Sheldon & Parker, P.L.L.C., and practices mostly in the areas of personal injury, family law, corporate defense, criminal defense, and business litigation. Rhea graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law. She began her law career as a judicial law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court for Justice Kay B. Cobb. She later managed the Jackson Mississippi office of a regional law firm where her practice focused on commercial litigation and toxic tort defense across the Gulf South. Rhea is admitted to practice in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia. In 2007, she was named one of “Mississippi’s Fifty Leading Business Women” by the Mississippi Business Journal.
Joseph P. Parker serves Of Counsel to our law firm. Joseph is currently a partner at the law firm of Sheldon & Parker, P.L.L.C., and practices mostly in the areas of criminal defense, real estate, wills and estates, family law, and personal injury. Joseph specializes in commercial and residential real estate transactions, and is partnered with many local banks and realtors to provide real estate closings and title services to companies and individuals. Joseph graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law. He began his law career as a law clerk at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi under the Honorable Michael T. Parker, before starting his own law practice in Purvis, Mississippi. He later partnered with Rhea Sheldon to form the law firm of Sheldon & Parker, P.L.L.C.
Dawn J. Brooks is the office manager and Joseph Songy’s legal assistant at our firm. Dawn attended Jones Junior College, where she majored in Journalism and Business Administration and served as editor for the Jones Junior College newspaper. In 2004, Dawn obtained a Bachelors Degree in Public Relations and Marketing from Mississippi College. After graduation she served as Assistant to the Press Secretary for Governor Haley Barbour. She began working in the legal profession in 2005. Currently, Dawn manages our office and assists Joseph Songy with trial preparation, client relations, and marketing.
